Safe Loading of Pallet and Sheet Products
Rules that work in the field for pallet stacking, sheet binding, and damage-free delivery.

Pallet and sheet metal transport jobs most often suffer damage due to improper preparation. Correct stacking and securing keep the load in place throughout the journey. The most common issues we encounter when working with companies around Manisa Organized Industrial Zone (MOSB) stem from this.

Basic rules for palletized shipments

Heavy boxes go at the bottom, lighter ones on top. The load must not extend beyond the pallet edge. Corners are protected with cardboard edge guards. Stretch film is wrapped at least three times, including the pallet base.

Application for sheet plates and sheet rolls

  • Sheet packages are placed on wooden blocks, not directly on the ground.
  • They are secured with tension straps at least at two points.
  • Edge protection profiles are used to prevent straps from cutting into the sheet.
  • Sheet rolls are fixed against rolling with blocks and wedges.

For carton shipments and insurance

Double-wall cardboard, sufficient inner padding, and taping in an H shape significantly reduce damage risk. For multiple shipments, number each carton; this ensures smooth counting upon delivery. Cargo insurance covers damages during transport, but damages caused by inadequate packaging are generally excluded. Proper packaging is therefore crucial for both safety and insurance.

Quick check before loading

Before loading begins, check the pallet’s sturdiness. A pallet with broken blocks may collapse when lifted by a forklift. Ensure the stretch film covers the pallet base. A label placed on the top surface indicates the load’s orientation during transfer.

For sheet and profile shipments, placing blocks on the vehicle floor prevents slipping. Securing points should be chosen according to the load’s center of gravity. A long load tied at a single point tends to rotate in turns. The two-point rule is therefore decisive in practice.

Safe loading is the cheapest insurance for transport. A few minutes of proper preparation can eliminate all costs of damage and delay. We can determine the right preparation together according to the type of your cargo.
